Is there an address I can send a tenner to, to contribute towards Idris's costs?

Anyone up for it? if we all sent one it would easily cover it...

We would need a total of 1,200 people to each contribute £10.

Now whilst this would probably be well outside the scope of PH - I can't see why we cannot blitz all the UK (and all others too) motoring (or related) sites.

I'm sure we all hit other sites - so get postings on there - I'm sure some folks would contribute more, etc, etc .... hit the motoring press - particularly the max power bridgade - uinlikely what car, top gear, would publish anything.

1,200 is not a lot of folks in total.

I'd also suggest we have a dedicated URL/website to push specifically for this - something which I'll happily pay for and help setup (even though I'm sure there are a million much better html coders on here).

I'll say it again - 1,200 is not a lot of folks in total.

Only slight issues might be payment methods - we would need to make it as easy and as simple as possible for everyone to pay by any method.

We'd also need to speak to Idris to get his buy-in and full support.

I'm quite happy to do as much/little/none of the above as required.

Any seconders?

More than willing to contribute, but isnt £12K to take a case to the House Of Lords a tad optimistic?

Surely thats a day for a good Barrister?

I while ago I sent him a contribution via the ABD. There may still be a link with details on their site.

I think this may be the page, part of their "Right to Silence campaign" however it may be worth checking that they will use the funds from this for Idris to take this to the House, rather than the ECHR campaign, both being good causes tho' imo

A really good Barrister should be about £500/hr and thats for a top notch city guy, most of the leg work is done by the solicitor and a barrister thats worth that much should be able to pick up a case and run with it almost on the hoof, ie its not uncommon for them to pick up the case notes for the first time on the train to work.

I would estimate the barristers fee is likely to be about £3k - £5k, depending on how long this would be listed for. The remainder is solicitors fees in getting it to HOL and disbursements.

I had a commercial one who charged that for one court appearance.
