Today while I was on my way to take my step daughter to the dentist I saw an old lady trip over some new kerbing in the middle of the road down Leith Walk, just on the junction of Pilrig Street, as there seemed to be no one else stoped I parked up, ran over to the other side of the road to assist the lady, there were now 2 other people there too, but I stopped to call an ambulance, staying till it arrived. The lady seemed to be in good spirits, she told me she was 86 and Dutch, slagged of the football last night, but more the Dutch players than anything else, and started on some old war stories about being jailed during WWII for insulting Hitler to a German soldier who tried to chat her up.

Anyway, once the ambulance arrived and the paramedics were tending to her I left them to it and returned to my car, only to find that there was now 3 lots of spit in the car, one on the steering wheel, one on the seat and a particularly green one on the window/door area, with a glass bottle of some sort thrown in hitting my step son.

I appreciate that in my haste I left the car badly parked, and that the window was left open, but I feel totally discusted that some idiot(s) felt the need to spit into and throw something into the car. I dont know if this was because of how I had parked up (there was plenty of room for other cars to get past), or because of the car I drive (Scoob).

This is really just a rant due to my anger caused by someone elses disgusting behavior and to see if anyone else has had anything similar happen to them.

All this on the back of praising the people of Scotland to my wife over the weekend after going down south for the weekend and experiencing some appalling driving etiquet.

Rant over!!!

Sorry to hear that, unfortunately some 'people' are scum and for whatever reason seem intent on making others as miserable as they are.

Doesn't really matter if you parked badly, spitting or throwing things into someone's car isn't the way a normal person would react, filthy scumbags indeed.

Good on you for helping the old lady, it’s what any decent person would do, I’m sure such a thing wouldn’t occur to these lowlife scum.

Having walked the full length of Leith Walk yesterday I am unfortunately not surprised by this.

Disgusting and truly dis-heartening.

Now that sort of person should not be allowed out...I don't care how badly a person parks, it does not warrant a car being abused like that! tts. Good to hear that you were good enough to help the lady, don't let scum like that let you be put off helping folks.

it would be Leith, lol. seriously though, well done for stopping to help mate, something like that would almost make you drive on next time ay. Was a good deed and hopefully most of us would do it.
I am sure Karma will come round and give you something in return, and more hopefully give them something for doing that!

Think of the glow of helping . I turned into a local street ,with bumps equal to tank traps ,to find an elderly lady in an invalid chair half way up one of these ,trying to cross the road .It was pleasant to see that as I went to help her move her scooter over the hump, another car had stopped to help .

This particular comment worries me. Your unfortunate experience isn't representative of typical Scottish people.

I implore you not to let this sad set of circumstances colour your existing view of this coutry and its people.

I wouldn't take it too personally against Scots, you'd be hard pushed to find one in Leith.
