Nothing to do with me, I just spotted it in the classifides:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1859380.htm

Would this be a better engine than the standard 4.5 litre in the 25 450SE's that were made?

Who's SEAC is this out of? Seams a strange thing to do with something as rare as a SEAC...

Was looking at that earlier. Probably the same as the 450SE engines & the few 4.5 Pre Cat Griffs that were produced. It certainly has the large sleeved plenum.

I think this guy must do some dealing in parts and cars. I went to look at a Yellow 400SE about 12 months ago only to see he had a red one for sale too (someone on here has the red one now as I saw pictures recently). Not so long ago he was then selling another yellow one.

He always seems to have ads on the Classifieds for parts. If you go through he recently sold the rear diff assembly for a wedge, twin fan kit and he has a 350i bootlid, other things as well.

I spoke to this gentleman earlier this year when I was selling the 390.

He mentioned the engines to me at that time, and I suggested he advertise them on PH.

Seemed a nice genuine type. Ex-TVR employee ???

Interesting, did these engines actually make that much power or is 320bhp the TVR pie in the sky figure?

Valve covers are different to mine... Mine is black mainly, with silver stripes?
This probably means nothing of course...

The usual pie in the sky for Rover V8 figures..

More than likely only the race motor gave those numbers.

The question on my tongue is what do you all think they are worth ??

I will be posting the next essay soon but after my le mans return trip I have no fourth or second gear so need a gearbox or refurb and as on previous post have compression issues whish it looks like mean i need a new cam and lifters so it may be cheaper to swap the engine and gearbox straight over ????

What do you chaps all think

Always much less than a Griff 500 engine. One of those in the ads for 3K.

So - less than that.

3k!! That include the Chimaera 500 lump too? Any spec difference between them?

Hmm...3 grand for a Rover V8, fair amount of coinage that!

Not sure why though,an original SEAC engine will be around 280 bhp fitted in a wedge, put the same engine in a grief and your talking 300 bhp,due to dif exhaust setup.
500 griff will only make 265/275 bhp

Thats a pretty long engine number for an NCK. Did SEAC's not have an oil cooler take off? I guess the engine might have been fitted in a 350 so this could have been removed.

Wayne,

That's not coinage.

This is RV8 coinage;

Ali rods - must be a drag racer or race engine as they have a short
life span.

Is that your other engine Phil ?

Very good Alan.

No, but I was offered it very recently.

Crazy power from a 3.5. I have the engine dyno graphs somewhere.

Much as I would like to throw away the dizzy and have fully mapped ignition and fuel I will not have sufficient funds this time round.

I'm just consentrating on getting the car how I want it but with the pretty much stock 420 lump that's in the car.

I feel if I can get the car to handle to the max what with a stiffer chassis, good suspension settings and rubber to match I'll be able to enjoy a relatively reliable car.

See you Saturday.
