I don't know the area, but is there a quarry or anything upwind of where you are? The quarry where I used to live, used to let off an air raid siren before detonations.
Not sure I was working down there but could have been. I was just about to start running around to find an underground lead shelter when it stopped.

Just off the Crowthorne bypass, between Camberley and Bracknell.

Best time to escape from Broadmoor is 10am on a Monday morning biggrin

They test the one at Kidlington airport on an almost daily basis, normally count how long it lasts, and keep an eye on the incoming 999 call numbers, if both keep going then something has gone down...literally.

as above re alarm test.

10 am every monday morning they test both the "st someone's escaped" and the "it's ok we have got them back now all clear" alarms.

last time someone escaped (c 1960), they pressed the alarm button and it was broken.. decided to test everyweek now as that escapee killed a small girl nearby.

if the alarm goes off any other time, all local schools aqnd public buildings get locked down etc etc.

BB ex resident of near (not in ) Broadmoor. available for local history talks at the pub of your choice smile
