electric window problems

I have a 53 plate ford focus and I am having problems with the electric windows, the drivers window fails to move but the passenger one works with both the switch on the passenger side and the drivers side, as the switch on the drivers side contains both window switches is it still possible for the switch to be faulty or does anyone know of this problem, cheers

Drivers side window motor. Very common fault, happened on my dad's 54 plate Focus, you can buy the whole mechanism for not too much. However try taking the door card off and giving the motor a bang with something, often works.

This happens to me quite occasionally. As has been stated above, when it does happen, I give my doorcard a small, but firm knock. This tends to work like magic which makes the drivers side window work!
