That XJS does not look too bad at all, perhaps a good bargain to be had, I would give it a serious look.
Would be good to be prooved wrong
I'm off to look at it at the weekend (soonest the vendor can be available Would be good to be prooved wrong
) If it is as honest as it looks i think i'll end up with it!I'm still torn between another 928 and a Jag but the massive pull for the jag is the interior, just such a nice place to be, where as the interior of a 928 is a more austere and Germanic place to be...

Looks like a very good car. I've recently bought an early facelift (so still chrome bumpered) for that sort of money and my advice is to look at as many cars as you can befoe you buy one. I was amazed at the different levels of quality across seemingly similar cars. And I knocked up a lot of miles looking for what I hope is the right one.
Of course ... if this looks like the one ... go for it

(Both the 3.2 and 4.0 were substantially revised for the 1995 launch of the new X300 saloon. These are the "AJ16" engines, both now featuring coil-on-plug distributorless ignition, new engine management systems, magnesium alloy valve covers, revised pistons and other detail changes.)
As far as Wikpedia is concerned.

AJ16 possible beefed up to be able to take the power and torque of the XJR6 of the time. So worth having, I'd reckon.
Have a good look underneath any XJS. Even a seemingly sound looking example can be well rotted.
You will get a laugh the first time you get it power-washed - its like a monsoon INSIDE the car. Windscreens do not seal.
I would prefer few owners, and enthusiast owners. They go downhill VERY fast if not totally loved. Truth be told, old jags are usually rusty old wrecks.

I don't agree that all old jags are rusty heaps! There a loads of old ones still on the roads today. The later XJS were a lot better made, i've seen plenty of good ones on my travels, but i would go for a 4 litre celebration from the same year as the x300 (1995), especialy if you are going to use it daily.
Update...
The one example i posted has been sold, never got a chance to view it
I have seen a stunning low mileage (with full s/h) Flamenko car which i'm going to view hopefully....really want one in that colour...
Also tempted by an XKR-S i've seen on PH.....said i wouldn't get a V12...but...
