Parking at Spa for Belgium GP

Unless you have pre booked anywhere and you are just travelling an open ticket the best option is if you come off the E42/A27 motorway at J10 and head towards Francorchamps Village theres a petrol station on the left.. turn left just after it and go through Hameau Village (it is signed to the circuit)... theres parking in the fields down there... try and get as far down the road as possible, the camp sites are at the end of the road, you might be able to blag your way onto one of those, alternativly try and get onto Liege Lane.. theres loads of parking up there... but as always remember your hiking boots as its still a bit of a hike to the track
You'll never get on one of the carparks attached to the track, passes only (unless you go on the thursday and steal someone elses pass..) at least here you are going in on the entrance outside Eau Rouge..
just bear in mind that the lanes all around the track are small twin lane tracks and unless you leave before the end of the race you could be sat in an awful lot of traffic, i camped one year, stayed at the track til 7ish, drank a couple of beers, went back to the tent for a kip and then set of home in the middle of the night!
Dont go beyond Malmedy or Beuneville to park as its bloody miles back to the track and theres very little parking down there. last weekend i walked from Stavelot corner back to the pits and i never realised exactly how far it was on foot!

Come into Francorchamps village from Spa town. If you show the nice policeman your window sticker you will be directed this way rather than to the right just before the aerodrome , which would result in a VERY long walk otherwise.
When you come into Francorchamps ignore about the first 30 people waving you into their garden, I always park at the same place , just before the road turns 90 degrees left to descend towards the circuit, just by Hotel (La Roanney or something)
It's a compromise between how long you walk, and the jams going out. Being the "good" side of the x-roads I have found this to be a good compromise, but obviously if you don't arrive reasonably early (say 0930 on race day? ) this parking will be full and you will have to walk a little further.
It is about a 45min walk (including Q'ing to get your pass swiped at the entry ) from here to the the Grandstand at Eau Rouge.
Everyone charges the same price for parking, if I recall last year was about 10€ - 15€?

Tried the Spa to Francorchamps road one year.. it was a no go, they try to keep it clear for the 'more important ones'coming up from the town and dump the great unwashed off down the side roads onto carparks.. and thats one hell of a hike!
Passes are everything im afraid... unless you have one to get closer you are stuffed!
If you do get through (i did get through in a Renault hire car wearing a Williams team shirt on year) you can get very close before they start to really check your credentials!
Unfortunatly there are no 'best ways' as there are 120000 other people all with the same idea!

If you already bought your ticket from the circuit or an agency you should have received the window sticker with it. If you didn't, just show them the ticket and they should let you pass.
If your plan is to buy the tkt on the day (it was poss last year, don't know about this year) you will have to learn some French and try and convince them you are meeting friends in Francorchamps.
Alternatively, go up to the circuit V early before the cops start bothering about directing traffic.

I have come Spa to Francorchamps every year now since 95, in recent years , as long as you have a ticket for a grandstand in the right bit of the circuit (start finish- Eau Rouge) you will be allowed to pass straight ahead. I have been sent off to the right years earlier on a jaunt no doubt inspired by the Ardennes tourist board. For sure you don't want to arrive 1hr before the race, but I have never had any hold ups arriving @ 09:00-10:00.

At the end of the race, if you wander around a bit and have a beer, the traffic is better from about 18:00, relatively painless to the Autoroute, the really cr@p traffic comes if you are trying to get back into Brussels .

To be honest, there are so many people who open up their back gardens / fields etc right near the circuit, its not much of a hardship having a 10 minute walk past all the bars and stalls selling years old merchandise.
The one thing I noticed last year is that they have cordoned off the areas immediately in front of the stands as well now, so unless you have a relevant ticket you cant even walk past the grandstands and get a view of the seats.
When I went a couple of years ago (especially on the Friday and later on on Saturday) you could wander in to a grandstand to see what was happening on track - Not any more, its so locked down now.
It must really annoy the food sellers in the grandstands on the old pitt straight, as they dont get any passing trade anymore - only people sitting in the stands can access the waffles and hotdogs... Genius!?
