Red paint, white water spots - how do I remove them?
Discussion
Hi,
I am sure that this has been posted before, but I hope that someone can help with sorting out my paintwork. In this recent warm weather after it has rained my red car is covered in white water spots once it dries. I know that red cars are difficult to keep nice however I've tried to remove them with autoglym paint renovator which has lightened them but not removed them completely. I have polished and put on a layer of wax but the same thing everytime it rains.
I presume that the water beading is magnifying the sunlight hence the spots. The car is only the old family snotter however it looks like it's got some disease at the moment and I would ideally like a cheap way of fixing it from my local halfords if possible.
Thanks for any help in advance.

The hard water is spotting on your car. Suggestions are as follows.
1. When rinsing the car use an open ended hose and let the water sheet off the paintwork and windows.....do not spray the car to rinse.
If you are getting water spots you may need to invest in something like Meguiars Last Touch, which is a drying aid. Is available online, lasts for ages and just spray it onto your paintwork as you dry your car and you will have no water spots.
Any decent Quick Detailer can be used, Meguiars make on available in Halfords, but the best products are available via the web.

depends on the age of the car.
On old VWs (pre 1990 with cellulose paint?) in red you can over polish the paint so that after it has rained the water beads and sits on the paint nicely for hours. The problem is the sun can come out and literally bleach the paint under the lacqure as the water magnifies the suns rays.
Only 2 ways to fix it is to repaint the panel from scratch or use a hard cutting compound and re-lacqure. I had a red car with this problem and got the paint blown over and it was fine for months then the white spots started to reappear through the new paint :-( Only way to solve it was to repaint but go back to bare metal first.
