This is for my triathlon training - just want speed, average speed, cadence and maybe heartrate.
Not massively interested in datalogging.

Any suggestions?

The new Cateye Strada twin wireless does all that except heartrate for about £65... very neat installation using one sensor block on the non-drive chainstay that looks at rear wheel rotation and pedal revs; and extremely easy to set up. Head unit will mount on stem or bar as you prefer. Very happy with mine on my roadbike and specifically bought it for the cadence function...

I use the wired version of the Cateye Strada - I think I have three of them altogether - they're very straightforward and have a mount that works east-west as well as north-south so the head unit will go on the stem if you're using aerobars.

I know you say you don't wanr data logging but I've just got a Garmin 705, ok mega expensive but what a gadget! Does everything and more! Best bit of kit I've bought, really makes me work harder when I'm out, virual partner is ace.

thanks chaps.
Debating whether to go for the HRM element too, or just wear my HRM on my wrist - can be a bit distracting to look at though.

You can mount an HRM on the bars too.

Do you want HRM for the swim and the run...?

Will wear my normal HRM all the way through.
I don't know whether the Polar chest belt will run a Cateye HRM function while also driving the Polar HRM?
I could just angle the Polar HRM on my wrist and use that instead...

Don't know - doubt it, though.

Works for me - if I wear it on the inside of my wrist it's line-of-sight when I'm on the tri-bars.

Cateye Strada Wireless Double is very good if you're not interested in GPS, Power, etc.

I use the bike computer just as a bike computer (FlightDeck), and a separate HRM/GPS watch (Forerunner 110) which works on the bike and run.

I did it last year. It's an epic event, and very well organised logistically for its size. You should really enjoy it.
