So after changing my CAS O ring yesterday I've had a little trouble with power delivery. Upon re-fitting the CAS I found that the mark I had made (on the rocker cover side) had disappeared and thus had nowhere to line it up to. So I set it up with the engine running. All the way up = Slow and laggy spool up and all the way down = fast spool up, pressumably with no guts behind it. So I stuck it somewhere in the middle, went for a drive and it all just felt wrong, big flat spot about 4k. Ever since then I've been pulling over and trying a little bit more one way or the other but I just cant seem to find that "sweet spot" it was in before. Is there any way I can get this right again or will Mixxy never be the same again?

Stop driving it around like that! Get the timing sorted asap! If you run it too advanced you can destroy your engine!
All it needs is someone with a timing strobe light - a 5 minute job.

Yup, I'd hold fire if I were you.

The rotation of the CAS is what determines the amount of timing advance the engine runs.

Its a very small adjustment between way too much and way too little.

Easy to adjust with a timing strobe but I wouldnt suggest driving it with it jsut set any old how is much good for your engine, engine damage.

Cheers you two. You may very well have stopped me from making a fatal mistake. I'll get hold of a timing strobe tomorrow and she'll be running perfect as before. smile

Remember you need to put a jumper between TEN & Gnd in the diagnostics box before you set the timing. You should take that opportunity to set the idle correctly too wink

What lazza said , you need to bridge ten and gnd in the diagnostic box before setting the timing.

Out of interest; does this prevent the ECU from adjusting the timing?

Not completely but it does enough for the purposes of adjusting the base timing & base idle.
