2010 British Open (Golf)
Discussion
So, the Open is almost upon us, and I fancy having a flutter. My thoughts are on Mickelson or Westwood (beware the injured golfer) with a strong finish from McIlroy.
It will be intereseting to see what the weather does this week - I was fortunate enough to play the Old Course on a pleasant June day, but with the wind up and the rain falling, it should be a good test of golf.
Not sure I agree on moving the 17th Tee where they have, but apart from that I'm looking forwards to St Andrews in all it's HD loveliness

I'll be cheering for Justin Rose I think, he's playing quite well. Is anyone watching the preview on BBC2? What lovely weather they've got up there at the moment!
I was there 13 months ago and got sunburnt!! St Andrews is an experience, but you need to play it a few times to appreciate it.
Carnoustie is a much better course, and I hope one day they take the Open to Kingsbarns.
just having a think about who to back now....
Els seems to be being spoke about, and you cant rule out Woods or Mickleson
I think its going to be a long hitter though, especially if the weather gets going. Would love to back Rose, and his form is good, but is he REALLY upto true links golf after so long in the US...
Stricker comes off the back off a great 3 rounds in the US, and Clarke played well last week and knows how to handle the wind. But neither are that long...
So many choices!!
Im thinking maybe Cabrera...

I've been watching for an hour and already Peter Alliss has me wanting to self-harm.
Fat judgmental self-regarding gobs
te.
No need to be so self-critical. Fat judgmental self-regarding gobs

was watching the coverage and McIlroy didn't half make it look easy apart from his fluffed putt on 17. 16's seems like a good bet right now.

I had a tenner on McIlroy at 16/1 to win. Had a feeling about Poulter too so put a fiver each way on him at 33/1.
Might be easy now but we'll see come friday when it's blowing a gale
....and a spectacular fall from the top of the leaderboard - Can't remember when I've seen something like that happen at that level!Might be easy now but we'll see come friday when it's blowing a gale

Really hope Casey manages to do it. The guy is a class act in my opinion and if he were to win this one I'm sure others will follow.
+1I think Casey is an absolute credit to the game and would hopefully be the first of a run of English winners
.Casey, Rose, Poulter and certainly Westwood are good enough players, just need to put it together for the important weekends.
Also love Jimenez! Best character in Golf!
