Polo S 1.2 6bhp
Discussion
Been offered one as a company car for 3-6months until the proper car arrives.
It will only be a Golf diesel of some description, but quite well specced.
My question is: Looking at the specs, the Polo looks laughably slow. Will it even move off the drive? My current steed is a tatty 307 Diesel (90). Am I better sticking with the Puglet?
Oh how it's tough at the top choosing between such awesome machinery.

If you think this is bragging then your life must be very empty.
I'm just trying to weigh up a very crap couple of options!
Crap options? I wish I'd had company cars in my past working life, anything would have done.If you think this is bragging then your life must be very empty.

I've got a company Vauxhall combo van now, which I'm bloody grateful for!

I'd go for it.
They are ok to drive, much better than other 3 cyl cars I've driven (eg corsa).
I recently drove a Polo 55 from london to scotland and was very surprised it was capable of cruising along at 85/90 leptons all day long, it didnt even slow down on the big hills.
nicely finnished inside, decent steering and brakes, a decent little car.

Only if your drive is on a downhill slope.
(Although if it is, the Polo wouldn't be able to get up it in the first place!).
We have a 1.2 Ibiza in the family, although, presumeably because SEAT is supposed to be more sporty, it's the 70BHP version. It goes alright on the fastish A roads around here once it's up and running - the little 3cyl engine likes to be revved. Funnily enough it seems worst around town.
Keep a close eye on the oil level if you get - the cam-chain tensioner doesn't like the oil level dropping.
