Hello, Im new to the forum. Well I Plan on buying a 2001 V8 Esprit but have a few questions. I saw this realy nice esprit in a color that I never seen before. Its like a metallic light blue color and I wanted to know if someone could post the color choices for the 2001 Lotus Esprits. Also This car has new style round tail lights with the old style exhaust set up where theres a sigle exhaust on each side. Did some of the later model 2001 come with the new round lights? Also how can you tell if they converted the square light to the new round ones? Final question, which exhaust sounds the best? I plan on getting the tubi exhaust.

Thanks in Advance

A list of colours is going to be tricky as Lotus change the options every year!

The last thing you want to worry about is colour. You need to make sure you get the right Esprit. Get a bad one and it will cost you much more than a re-spray.

The new rear lights came in the 2002 update, so only post 02 Esprits will have the new round lights. These can be retro fitted to any Stevens Esprit (1987-2001).

As for Exhausts, there's other threads about that, but you'll need to get a car first and see how it sounds first. Tubi are expensive! I'm sure an owner hear has one and a sound file. Search the Exhaust threads for this.

Kato was totally right when he said that,

"You need to make sure you get the right Esprit. Get a bad one and it will cost you much more than a re-spray." That's for sure! (BTW, love your site, Kato!)

However, also keep in mind that when little things go wrong (and as with any car, they most likely will as time goes on), you will be a lot more tolerant about it if the car is in a color that you like or originally wanted. That's something to keep in mind as well. It could be the critical difference between, "my beautiful blue baby just needs a little love" to "that g.d. piece of #### atomic chartreuse money pit is acting up again and I don't know why I ever bought that color!!!" Okay, so I exagerated, but I think you know what I mean.

As for the blue V8 that you mentioned, my guess would be that you might be talking about Carribean Blue. One of our Bay Area Esprit Group clubmembers here in California has one and it is for sale. It might even be the same car since I vaguely remember that it had the tail-lights updated to 2002 specs.

Like the old saying goes...when you're rare, you're cool.
