I test drove a GT when I was 18 but didn't buy it as the pedals were too close together. I was hitting the brake and the accelerator at the same time.
I agree completely there; my feet aren't that big, and I was hitting two pedals at the same time. I also found the pedal box was off to the left too. Edited by dalos260 on Wednesday 14th July 22:51

Seriously, you wouldnt want to crash one.
Same could be said of every other small car of the same era, and quite a few of the larger ones. They are a hoot.
A friend used to have one with a breathed on engine in it, it was pretty fast from what I remember.
Never see them about anymore.

Used to track an Ax GTi, it's not a fantastic performer but the steering feedback was brilliant and was great fun to really drive it hard. Engine is good for about 7800rpm and loves to rev. Always thought it was one of those cars which is "more than the sum of its parts".

I lined up beside one at a "private race track with traffic lights" waited till it went green and it buggered off very very quickly, suprising as it looked like they had 4 rugby props in their car.
That is where I learned Saxo VTR and VTS engines go in very easily. Also power to weight.
Buy one, they are good looking cars and getting rare.

I've had two, absolute hoot. I crashed one quite heavily when I was 18- I ended up dukes of hazzard style barrel rolling over a hedge and skidding down the road on the roof.
Held up quite well, I always assumed it would fold in a crash.
Anyway, the GTis have the nicer interior IMO and some had 4 stud wheels, which may make a wheel swap a lot easier.
I don't remember them being any quicker than the GTs either.
