What to do with the Boxster?
Discussion
Bit of a ramble this one, so stick with me!
About 3 years ago I bought the Boxster S (the one in my profile pic), and I loved it. Fast forward a couple of years, managed to put myself out of work and had to sell the car to a friend of mine. He owned it for about a year, looked after it and went to trade it in on a 911. Gave me first refusal on the car at £500 over trade in, so i snapped it up.
Now I'm not sure i want it anymore, the same enjoyment from the first time just isn't there! There seems to be an ever growing list of cars that I want to own, MX-5, E36 328 for the track, Evo V (Tommi edition) and I'm wondering do I shift the Boxster as I don't use it for work and freeing up some cash wouldn't be a terrible thing to do.
So what have others done in situations like this? A perfectly good and very capable car, but doesn't light the fire in me. Was the thoughts of the PH massive?
BTW This isn't really a thread about if the Boxster is a good car or not!

That's exactly how I felt about the Boxster S when we had one for a while. Well balanced, reasonable power and easy enough to drive around town but didn't really do it for me. If it's just not doing it for you, and you can afford to, go out there and start ticking off the other cars on your list. As said above, there are always plenty of Boxsters out there so returning in the future shouldn't be an issue.Best of luck with the decision!

In exactly the same position myself, currently got a Boxster S, but find myself looking at mk1 MX5s & thinking I could have 80% of the fun for 10% of the cost. Also I wouldn't worry about where I leave a mk1 MX5 parked.
Exactly that! Fun on and around the speed limit, not getting to the limit in 2nd and wasting all that power in 3rd gear as we can't really use it. Plus I think the MX-5 will be much much cheaper to run on the track. The more I think of it, the more it makes sense. The only time I'll miss the Boxster I think is when I'm willing to ignore the speed limit and when I want something 'nice' to go out in. Whilst the Mondeo is pleasant, it doesn't have that special feeling that the Boxster sometimes has.

I then brought an MX5 to tide me over, and never looked back. Until that man drove into me.
Well if you are bored with it then you have to get rid. The only car I could replace my Red Boxster with at the moment would be an Audi R8 and even then it would have to be the drop top!
Going from a decent Boxster to a saloon is a downgrade in excitement terms, especially during summer.
Have you ever considered a TVR Tamora or 350?
Well if you decide to get rid then now is the time - leave it until mid august and prices will drop and continue to drop.
I learned this lesson a while ago - never go back mate. If you made a decision on anything at the time and didnt regret it then it was probably the right decision. Plus, boxsters are s
t anyway.

They're actually very well designed cars. What do you base this opinion on?I learned this lesson a while ago - never go back mate. If you made a decision on anything at the time and didnt regret it then it was probably the right decision. Plus, boxsters are s
