Just a quick warning to those of you that still do it old skool.

I recently bought 2 rolls of Sensia from Jessops ( dont ask), I picked "pre paid". Imagine my horror when I got to the shoot (a week or 2 later) and noticed the shoot before date was September 2008. Anyway, I shot as I was also using digital.

Just got around to sending the films off in the prepaid envelopes. All nice and good but something suggested to me that I should check the address considering what year we are now in. I phoned the number only to be told the address is no longer in use and to call a different number! Phew, films had not been dispatched so I have managed to send them to teh correct place.

The lesson here is if you shoot film, get prepaid development, ensure the address still exists.

Also dont buy from jessops they sell stock way beoyond their date

It was always difficult to get valves processed correctly.

Like steel needles for 78s, they just don't keep like they used to. Rust everywhere. It's all gone downhill since the steel industry closed.

Indeed - but have you ever tried to find the right sort of volume attenuation sock?

Still, at least there are plenty of cats around still so genuine cat's whiskers should still be available ....

Sorry, I keep calling my new radiogram a gramophone. It's hard to keep up you know.

I looked for Stan Freberg's sketch 'Herman Horne on hi-fi' but even that seems to have been updated!

I like the Steve Martin routine about the "Googlephonic stereo with a moon rock stylus" but I can't find a transcript of it. If you haven't heard it, it's on his 'Comedy Is Not Pretty' LP. You'll need to get the valve fixed in your radiogram first, though.

Hey... be easy on us; when we started Canons were what were shooting at us.

This was my first Canon:

"The camera also had a spring-wound film drive. While not as speedy as the electronic drives of today, this unit was built into a small "handle" on the bottom of the camera. Rapid shooting was possible if you had a quick finger -- about 20 shots could be taken with each winding of the spring."

I suppose that was considered advanced in 1963...

I'm sure there are those of us on here that appreciate film still. Mind I suppose as with music, you cannot beat digital remasters

Well done, you have caught us. We only stock out of date film because . . . erm. . . . I dont know why do we?

Are you sure there just wasnt a stock rotation problem or that this film had been sat there since the date.

Possibilities possibilities

Btw, if you havent already clocked on. I work for said company.
