Maserati 3200 - 2001 Improvement pack.. how to tell?

I am looking to get a 3200 and I believe that for £12-£14k a late 2001 model with the improvements is within my budget. I have been doing some reading up and I understand that a number of frustrations with the early cars was ironed out and in 2001 a minor upgrade was done.
How can I tell when looking for a vehicle or indeed when seeing one if this has been done or not. Is it based on Chassis numbers etc?
Would be most appreciative of any advice!
