Opinions on this 535d
Discussion
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2010...
I spoke to the seller and found out the following:
2 previous owners.
He purchased from BMW uk.
Has full bmw dealer history - 16,767 oil service, 41,998 oil service, 56,810 brake service, 58,641 filters
It comes on the standard 18" wheels with Dunlop SP Sports all round.
Has the Media pack, with TV tuner.
He has said he will take it to his local BMW dealer, get a check done on it and fix anything raised prior to sale, and of course will let me discuss the findings with the dealer.
Will come with 12 months MOT but no tax
He has said he will take £15,650 for it.
Opinions please anyone? Anything I should check out when I go to look at the car?

Not sure how the price stacks up, sure you have a gut feel.
The car looks like a good example 535d. Judging by it's service history, it looks like it's spent most of it's life on the m-way, despite it's 10k P/A average over 6 years.
Tax can be sorted easily, if it's passed it's MOT and he's willing to get a health check done at an authorised BMW garage and share the findings, you have that piece of mind too.
I would also HPI it. Take the chasis number and checked it against the black tamper proof sticker on the door frame and make sure it matches to the number under the bonnet which should be stamped in i.e. no stickers.
Check for signs of weldings, ill fitting panels and the HPI should show up can damage history. If it all checks out and it drives OK you will be good to go.
I have a 335d and when looking at the engine / box combo on this, there was nothing to suggest these engines / trans setups have any significant problems. Not sure about the earlier cars but if it drives smoothly it will be fine. No problems it seems doing high miles on these. In fact i saw and 2007 335d coupe with 160k on the clock for 15k
You could also phone the BMW vehicle history support line. They will give you a history of the vehicle. You could even ring the service dealers to check to see if anything has been done under warranty. Sometimes you have to do some arm twisting to get answers.

I personally think its a lot of money for an '04 car.
Heres an '06 one with considerably less miles AND the (genuine) 19's already on it.

You might want to check the exact spec of the car with BMW, that car has the Sun Protection Glass which was definitely optional (I had a 2004 535d Sport) and some of the extra that are listed definitely aren't. "Auto activation headlights" are not an extra and IIRC the Visibility Pack includes Adaptive Headlights. Puts me off the car a bit as it's obviously the trader doesn't know his BMW's very well.

Only thing id question is why would he have bought it from BMW uk, why would they have a 2 owner car in their stock? If he means from a BMW dealer then yes but not direct from BMW themselves.
Maybe a BMW Finance auction?Theoldfm said:
That looks lovely - how much would they want for it with the 19" alloys though as they really finish it off?
He wanted another £600 + vat for replica's with budget tyres on so I don't think I'll be bothering with them!After_Shock said:

He suggested he thinks it may be a reposession. He said BMW themselves auction their cars online to certain registed car traders. No idea if this is true or BS!cableguy said:
AMS is just down the road from me. Drop me an e-mail if you'd like it checked over before your trip to view.

Thank you very much for the offer

I may well take you up on that if the car is not sold a few days prior to when I'm planning to view it.
Do you know the company or their reputation? how are they regarded locally?

That one looks nice but it doesn't have the prof nav - you can tell by the small screen.Heres an '06 one with considerably less miles AND the (genuine) 19's already on it.

The car doesn't have xenons. It also has air con, and not climate control. Not sure if it's quite as desirable as the ad would suggest. Having owned a 535d, don't buy one if you want an economical diesel. They're a great all rounder, but I wouldn't have another one. i reckon you'd be better off with a slightly newer 530d.

Do you mean you'll sell me it? If so how much? And your profile says you live in France?
In the process of moving to france, hence the need to sell car! Car is currenly just outside Edinburgh and I'm open to some negotiation on advertised price.[/quote
I think that tonto's car is definately the better buy!
