Has anyone successfully been through this and can offer me some advice with my claim.

Basically events and timeline are -

May - hit pothole and damaged wheel and tyre. Immediately contacted council and requested incident form. Returned these with all the details and pics of hole/damage. Plus quote for new wheel and tyre.

June - Received mail from the councils delegated claims handling company. Requested evidence of loss. Again sent away the same pics and quotes.

July - Receive mail now saying you can get the wheel fixed - please contact alloy wheel specialist. If the wheel is damaged beyond repair then please provide evidence of this. Also please provide reciept for damaged tyre and mileage covered.

So I've now to spend a day (at my expense) driving round alloy wheel specialists (where do you find them?) who are obviously gonna say yes its fixable just to get my business - or am i being cynical? Not to mention if the repaired wheel will be safe and true.

Also when I bought my tyres in January I got a slight discount on 4. The claims company will probably just divide that by 4 and then subtract some more for the miles I've covered leaving me with about £50 to get a tyre that usually costs over £100.

Any advice much appreciated.
