996 C4S sports exhaust question.
Discussion
Chaps,
Just following on from the thread on this page about exhausts, I was wondering if the sports exhaust usually fitted to 996 C4Ss is likely to be the switchable kind....ie with a quiet and a loud setting? Or is the switchable feature an optional extra?
The reason I ask is that there are a couple of 996 C4Ss near me who have an exhaust note that could wake the dead. I'm thinking you would have to be crackers to NOT have the option to turn the volume down a bit when appropriate.

when you order from the factory it comes with the switch as standsad.
if you get it fitted by your opc the switch is a seperate part to the actual porsche exhaust...as i mentioned elsewhere on here the labour cost to fit the switch is at least double that of fitting the exhaust, so surely some after market buyers would not bother.

On my C4S the sports exhaust is swichable but it was factory fitted. When I have tried to have one fitted by an OPC as an dealer fit to a second hand car they have said it cant be done . but from another thread it appers this may have changed try AFN in chiswick as clubsport says I am sure the Quote will be reassuringly expensive. Now Porsche are only making wide body cars I guess there will be a couple more sports exhaust equiped C4S's waking the neighbours
