I'm going to be looking for something cheap-ish with 4 doors, power and safety soon, The days of 2/3 door motoring is gone for now with the imminent arrival of mark_eire jnr!!
I was thinking of getting another volvo 850R although good ones are very hard to find, as I found out in the past!
I've been looking at the 9-5 Hot aero's lately, 2.3 turbo, 250bhp. similar performance to the 850R's and there selling for practically nothing, (2001/02 models)
So, has anyone any experience of these?
I'm not 100% keen on the saab interior, but for now it'll probably have to do!
Anything else worth looking at in the same bracket???
My budget will be around £3-4k

I thought that the Mazda 6 MPS might be down to this sort of price but a quick look at the classifieds shows that they are selling for a bit more.

Subaru Legacy of some kind?

Had a 2.3t estate in the family for a while. Did the job, but had a few suspension problems. You'll probably lose a fair bit in depreciation, ours did. Knowing what the 9-3 Aero of the same vintage goes like though, they've got a lot of grunt.

Alternative wise, an Accord Type-R could be worth a look.

That budget should get you easily into late 2002 and 2003 years .....possibly even 2004 territory.

Interior is great.

As has been mentioned, there's been a few recent similar threads in the PH Saab forum with most of the answers you seek.
