Hi all, I have my MK1 Chim totally stripped out, the dash etc is in a spare room while I retrim it. what I need is information on how to replace the old type switches to new type, they are quite different to each other so it is not as easy as I thought.
I am trying to get a new type dash made with the correct cock size holes for the old clocks.

Has anyone done it who can advise me?

the main reason for this is the cost in restoring the dash as the old wood is of such low quality, also the old switches are SHITE!!! why they used them I don't know they ark back to something out of the war...
Someone help out please!

I think that I was unclear....

I want to convert to the newer type switch arrangement the clocks are different sizes so that explains the holes bit. the issue I have is the changes with the loom!! HOW TO MODIFY IT!

This came up in the Chimaera section. My comment is the same in that the wiring changed very very frequently and so as there are no detailed wiring diagrams available you would need to work out from the current loom how the switches work and then reproduce that with the new ones. This may be as easy as apple pie or not. I suspect the latter as each wiring loom is effectively custom made for the car.

paulu: You just made me laugh out loud at my client site in the middle of an almost silent open-plan office, when I'm supposed to have been coding! Nice one!

Oh, I'm working on the political party thing. I've now reserved my domain and am working hard on putting my thoughts into words so I've got something to start with. My plan then is to invite people to join and hopefully together we can build some really good policies. I'll keep you posted.

Cheers.
