Hot Hatch to sporty cruiser (205 - 328i)
Discussion
So then guys ive been on here but not posting for a while, ive just graduated...I have a rebuilt fast road spec 205 gti 1.9
205 has ....
Ported and Polished throttle body
Gas Flowed head
Lightend and Balanced flywheel and crankshaft.
Fast Road cam
then every other part is rebuilt...

Anyway beside the point..... I have recently got a new job after graduating and have thought about a step towards something abit more comfortable as i will be doing motorway miles by majority and this seems a waste on the little pug.
I have mainly been drawn in by e36 328i with the msport pack. With a 325 inlet they can be quite fruity from experience in a friends when pushed....
So basically will i be completley dissapointed as obviously the bimmer will be no where near as agile as the 205 or will its curve of torque and low down grunt satisfy my needs.
The other options as a halfway point would be a ukdm dc2 that is fine for cruising out of vtec yet still as agile as the 205....
so pistonheaders help me
Thanks

Looks like a lovely 205 you've got there.
8 years ago I sold my 205, which i'd had for 7 years, and got a Corrado VR6. Was also thinking about 328 Coupes at the time but were too much money. I was very happy with the VR6 and kept it for 5 years.
I think you'll appreciate the bigger torquey engine, it'll probably be fast enough, it will feel much newer, but you will miss the chuckability of the Peugeot occasionally.

My current car is an E36 328 Sport, and before that I had a JDM DC2. My main reasons for selling the teg was to save a bit of cash and I needed more of a motorway crusier [though I must say the teg was quite a good cruiser to - just with less torque and a tad more volume]! Though the BM meets with my needs at the mo, I do miss the agility of my DC2, the BM feeling quite lose in comparison [but I think most things will compared to how amazing the Integra is to steer]. I also miss VTEC, the BM pretty much dying top end - though as you mentioned mate a 325 inlet can help in this area [230bhp can be on the cards].
Spend a bit of cash on the BM and I'm sure you can sharpen it up, and you'd have the best of both worlds. I'd recommend one, unless you think you can live with slight less practical and noisey DC2 on your daily commute. Put it this way; I don't take the long way home in my Beemer, like I did in my teg

I did a similar thing to you... I initially had a 106 GTI and moved to a bigger Audi (B5 S4) The audi is another level in comparison to the 106! (It costs a hell of a lot more too!)
I'd say go for and worry about it later. Can always sell up and go back to something smaller if you find you don't like it.

JDM DC2 in yellow...Personally, I'd get the ITR whilst you're still young.. Few years time when you get older and more boring, you'll not want the image of an ITR, and will get annoyed by the 'rawness' and lack of leather, so will want to buy a bmw then, just my 2p...
Sooooo rare, I sold it for top top money too!Gassing Station | General Gassing [Archive] | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
