Unusual Vehicles

Other than a Mercedes 308D Car Transporter that I sold to Vixpy, I have only ever driven cars, the odd van and a couple of motorbikes. I did 'drive' a Hitachi digger a few weeks back at a friends building site. Which was enjoyable digging out tonnes of clay to make a lake.

So back to my original title, what unusual vehicles have you driven, or what vehicle would you like to get behind the controls of ?

Ignoring all the dream cars and trucks I have always fancied driving

Drove a Routemaster bus at a Chiswick/LT open day many years ago, great fun.

Friend of mine owned a 'Hagglunds' (amphibious, articulated, tracked vehicle - powered by Ford V6). Didn't get to drive it, but travelled in it across a river.
He's currently restoring a 'BRDM2' (Russian military amphibious 4-wheeler), so hoping to have a go in that when it's up and running.

Drove a fire engine, green godess type, while doing my flying training. It was full of water and the inertia of the wet stuff sloshing around in the back was quite weird.

Though would love to drive a Challenger 2 Battle Tank Tankslider

I've driven some old 50s tractor, a Furguson TD50 or something... An engineless Golf buggy and one of these babys:


which was shall we say... Awesome! Amphibious, can take out small trees, controlled by two levers and can spin on a sixpence!

Got a forklift on to two wheels once which was unsettling. Driving a scissor lift at full extent is an odd experience as well.

Drove a Squire round the banking at Brooklands for ten minutes a few years ago. The only pre-selector gearbox I've ever used.
