Which one is easier to enter exit if you are nearly six feet tall? Which one is the better daily driver first track day car second?

Without a shadow of doubt - The Tuscan

It has a hugh boot, even quite tall people can get in very comparativly easy.

The elise has a very small boot and is alot more difficult to get it.

Why would anyone want to get into a boot?

It should also depend whether you like sitting in a tin bath (Elise) or a beautiful /exotic / comfy leather clad interior (Tuscan).

Being in the position of owning both a Tuscan and an Elise Sport 160, it's a difficult one to call.

The Tuscan is the more usable car day to day, has a greater wow factor, but will cost a lot more to run.

The Elise is far better on track, probably safer and much cheaper to run but is a pain day to day.

In my expierence they will both go wrong a similar amount and both TVR and Lotus have appaling customer service and will do the bare minimum they have to in case of any failure. Although the chances of a very big bill ar higher with the TVR due to the bespoke engine compared to the Elises standard mechanicals.
Also having a good relationship with the dealer is imperitive in both cases.

Thanks! Since I am in the USA, I will wait for the TVR instead of going for the Lotus. If the runnign costs are similar to a Carrera, I can handle the warts of the TVR--since I can get in it!

What if you're 6'4" and 20ish stones, with a bad back (Rugby) and knackered knee (Squash)?

I look at the Elise thinking, "and for the other foot...???"

Tried getting into the Elise--all 6 feet of me--and felt that I had to be a contortionist to get in with the hard top on!

I'm 6'5" and the Lotus is a complete NO NO. Not even managed it. Though did manage to get into a Westfield once. TVR Chimaera no problem - Griffith slightly harder. Cerbera fine and the Tuscan also fine....

Did have major problems at the TVR stand at the motorshow with the demo Tamora - seat didnt move and nearly didnt get out of it!

Cheers,

Paul

Just re-read this thread and was wondering why all the journos was lyrical over the Elise--are they all 5'6"?

Seems to me the Tuscan/Tamora is the better proposition for everyday driving...

I'm 6"3 - I tried to get in an Elise just the other day. I don't think I've laughed so much for ages. I wound up having to grab hold of my right foot and force it in yoga style. There may be a knack to it that I don't know. Getting out was easier but still a pain due to the huge lip. My friend (5"10) then confirmed it wasn't just me with entrance difficulties yuk yuk fnarr

I'm 6 foot 3 and have a Griff, my sister has an Elise which I can only just about get into and I find it exceptionally uncomfortable. I have however been in Tuscans and they are a breeze...

So why does Autocar and EVO wax lyrical about the Elise when you can't even get into it? Since I'm in the USA, I have to think that the journos are all short people with a Napoleon complex...
Is John Barker short?

I tried an Elise before I bought my Chim. I found it comfy enough once I was in, and trivial to get in and out of with the roof down. But with the roof on, getting in was a struggle and out completely impossible. I'm 6'3" and 18 stone. I guess Lotus are still building cars to fit Colin Chapman who was, er, vertically challenged.
