Don't know, but I do wish the tt with the big bright light in that clip would shine it somewhere else other than at the 'disturbance'!

I was firmly convinced it was a light show, but this gives evidence towards the missile theory.

Strange how the big bright light is always pointing right in the middle and the spiral a nice uniform spin. A night club opening up nearby maybe.....

This is what had me mostly convinced, however looking at that light beam on a few videos shows the light beam travelling in a fairly straightline before suddenly getting wider and conical. In a sort of bottle-neck shape. As far as I understand this would be impossible for any man-made light to do (whilst the light travels through the one medium anyway).

So my current understanding is:
  • Russian military carry out intercontinental missle test (range of 1000s of miles)
  • Launch goes fairly straight (leaving the first straight line of exhaust particles)
  • Missile starts to fail and spin (this would be where the exhaust gas field becomes wider)
  • Missile enters a gyro style effect whilst still moving away.
The missile itself provides the majority of the light show, whilst the exhaust particles themselves are illuminated by the moon/night sky to give the blue "light beam" pointing at the centre. In the same way clouds are still visible at night.

I am not a rocket scientist
