How do I go about getting rid of the tow bar on the back of my 54 plate Mondeo Estate? Is it simple enough or will it have to go to a garage?

Just unbolt everything carefully and remove everything carefully. Start by removing the tow ball and electrics. Depending on how the electrics are wired to the car, you may have to snip the cables to the wiring socket or undo the 'Scotchlocks' and remove the cable. Make sure you insulate any of the existing car's cables where necessary. Depending on how careful and brave you are, you may wish to disconnect the battery first.

I think I'm going to get it taken off at the mechanics, I've had a look at the setup and I'm not that keen on dealing with it to be honest!

Wimp biggrin

If you are even a bit unsure - that's the best bet, leave it to a man who knows.

Lack of tools, space and talent mean it should be left to a pro!!
