Rowan Atkinson's petrol station-style new house

Seems Mr Bean is planning to build a new house in Oxfordshire which residents say looks like a petrol station!

As you'd expect, he's planning to have an underground garage which will play home to his McLaren F1.

Looks fairly tasty but I always thought he'd want a stately home. More Pride and Prejudice than Clockwork Orange in design. Wonder if he's one of these many who's looking to get the new McLaren MP4-12C - it would look kinda good in the grounds

We will never move on architecturally as long as Luddites insist on having mock-Victorian mansions littering the country. I wonder what we would have been had this sort of thing been built in the 19th Century. Surely it's just a question of re-education and an acceptance that not everyone wants to live in a small-windowed house with no imagination.

Weird as it sounds I think you can get both self cleaning paint and self cleaning glass nowadays.

No I don't know how it works. But I've definitely seen the glass and think I've seen the paint used on TV.

If he was flattening an important or nice building I could see their point. The house he wants to get rid of looks like a very typical and forgettable 30's build. I bet there are hundereds like it within the area. With that in mind I think he should go for it.
