FYI there must be an "accident blackspot" on the A8 today as the police are setting up a camera on the bridge at Dakota / Eurocentral. Be careful people

Number of accidents there has been between Baillieston and Newhouse does not surprise me

Mind you catching someone exceeding 70mph they'll be lucky

Really?

Not sure I have seen an accident there.

My experience of this part of road is skewed as I very rarely drive during busy spells.
I would say it is not unusual to notice driving, in excess of 70somethings.

It is not uncommon to see trafpol cars sitting on the bridge at Dakota though.
I think they nab a few late night, empty motorway progress makers.

I suspect they may have a profitable day then.

It's a known camera site. You quite often get people coming down the hill off the end of the M8 section towards the city hitting 70+ (out of peak time, obviously!). I suppose there's a risk of meeting traffic joining from the J6 slip or "suddenly" coming across slow traffic on the A8 itself past the Matrix offices / Eurocentral junction.

Having said that, I've never seen an incident on that stretch...

I have also seen that bridge used by Police / VOSA operators? The motorbikes follow lorries and pull them in to the Showcase carpark for checks?
Have never seen speed cameras there but always thought it was ideal spot for them.

I live right opposite the Dakota and I have to double back on myself to go westbound on the A8.

There are Police there quite often.
