Applying for a job that doesn't exist with no experience...

Upon reading my own title to this thread, I realised it seems a tad more than hopeless, but i will go on and ask my question anyway.

I want to get into the Glass/Carbon fibre industry.

As far as i can tell, there is only one reputable company within a reasonable commuting distance. The havent got any jobs advertised and I have never even seen a sheet of glass fibre.

What would be the best way to approach them about possible employment?

A CV (with totally irrelevant things on it) and a covering letter?

Just a letter?

Just turn up at the office and voice my interest?

Give them a call and see what they say?

I want maximum impact to show i am genuenely interested and i dont want to be fobbed off.

I am open to any suggestions you might have. I no the chances are slim but I want to give it my best shot.

P.s- if anyone knows of anyone in within 15 miles of reading who might take me on, please let me know!

A spell check would help with the CV if you go down that route!

Is it imperitive that you get employment right now? If it's the only company, maybe showing your serious by asking for work experience (so unpaid) for a few weeks before approaching the subject of employment? If I was a boss, I'd be much more inclined to take someone seriously who was prepared to show me some willing and that they were serious before I started paying them and took them on full-time? Good luck.

Having said that, I'm currently doing the blind CV + covering letter approach but will be considering my own advice above if I get no success from that...
