Which depriciate quicker a V8 or AN sp6?
Discussion
Deoends how old your thinking... A car thats 3+ years old will have lost a good chunk of the depreaction already.
I would think the Speed 6 will depreciate faster, because of the bad press that the speed 6 engine got in it's early years (some people still don't trust them, so this reflects their value)

"Jamer, as SVP of The Blue Cerbera Register Break Away Finge, you really
should not be discussing classified covert mission information.
The 40 gallon tin we have is merely 'touch up' paint and in the safe hands
of our chairman, Paddy Satman.
It is pure coincidence that he lives next door to the Essex retirement home
for Knackered Blackpool Donkey's at No.6 Speed Lane.
Their grooming trainees do occasionally get carried away in trimming the
donkey's goatees, but we have no knowledge of how and why these 'accidents'
appear to turn up at NBW's houses from time to time (Non Blue Worshipers.)
Finally you may recall it was your idea to release some junior members into
the world before their final brain wash, I mean, intelligence management
course was complete and you are responsible for All Rise.
Your operation to remove them from the public arena is set for
Rockingham May 2nd. Don't fail us Jamer!....."

When buying a second hand Cerbera which will depriciate quicker a V8 or an SP6? or which will have a better trade when looking for a newer model? if a cerbera has a good history but several owners will this effect a TVR re-sale.
Just take a look on Autotrader; the S6 cars are generally a few £k less than V8 cars, even when the prices drop to near the £20k mark, there's still a large difference. This is partly due to the historic reliability of the S6, partly due to V8s costing more to begin with, and partly because bragging rights on a V8 are much better than a 6 cylinder engine (which could mean you just drive a Mazda MX3!)
Fewer owners = probably quicker to sell, but may not affect price. It'll give the perception of being a more trustworthy, fault free car.
Would say the V8 will have a better trade-in value, as dealers will no doubt use the line: "An S6, sir? Well, it would be an awful risk taking that off your hands; obviously I'll have to take into account my costs...".
And blue is clearly best for resale.

Gentlemen
Can I add a small refinement to the 'Blue vs Rest of the World' debate?
Interior also is very important. I'm a full-hide girl myself, but could be tempted by a bit of nice Alcantara
The delicious juxtaposition of that testosterone-charged engine popping and banging against the sensuality of leather or suede creates the ultimate sensory satisfaction IMO.
On the other hand, hopsack has its place
. It's very good indeed for rubbing the hard skin off your feet, although in truth this is not really advisable if you're driving at the time. And hide seats with hopsack can make an interesting combination if you're in to contrasting textures.

Just what my Cerbie is....full hide (magnolia and blue) with a tasty Imperial Blue Pearl exterior, complete with V8 pops and bangs....

Wanna go for a ride?

Worrying abou depreciation on cars like this is fairly pointless. Chances are, you will be less likely to have a major fault on a V8 (flame suit on), but you'll still be spending the recommended £2k-£3k on maintaining the thing. You may be lucky and only have the cost of a major service in the year £600, you may not...
Buy the V8.
Buy an Imperial Blue one.
Well known fact that blue cerbera owners are better looking, more successful and make better lovers.

There is a rare form of colour blindness that I believe all you blue meenies suffer from. That is the inability to distingish blue from Yellow.
I think you all need you're eyesight checking as you've all obviously brought yellow cars thinking they're blue.
:apologies to any non colour blind yellow car owners out there who may be offended by this scientific discovery:

As a blue man of taste, full hide magnolia and prussian upgraded interior
with perforated inserts is the order of the day.
As for my friend TVRslag, you really should know better.
Our convoys are always like this:

So you red devils, better watch out, the blue meanies are circling you!

Sorry Dean
To actually answer you question, blue is best, no sorry, I mean, sadly
the SP6 does drop in value more so than the AJP's.
Example for £19k you could have.
1998 4.2
2000 SP6
but generally the 4.5's start about £21k with the average for a 1998
being about 24K
There will always be exceptions to the price rule (owners need to sell,
work required etc) but in value terms it runs.
1)Speed 12!
2)4.5
3)4.2
4)SP6
Hope that helps a little and that you find the car for you.

This is a call to arms to all drivers of "non blue" cerbies to rise up against the impending and vengefull menace of the BLUE MEENIES and their fancy full leather and alcantara interiors.
Never has the right of choice been threatened so blatantly by this bunch of brash, blue loving colour blind individuals.
I beg you all to forefit anything blue you might own and place a personal embargo on purchasing anything blue,
lest the might of blue meenies take over our right to convoy in a multitude of colours and have interiors of mixed but lesser textures.
