Following all the hate threads about cars vs bikes blah blah blah, Am I in the minority here by loving fast cars, AND bikes? It almost seems as if people have chosen thier camps and that's it? Loosen up and enjoy somthing different, there are enough fools trying to stop us enjoying great roads without turning on our own, be it two or four wheel fun!

I don't ride yet, but after university I plan to take my direct access (24 at the moment) and get a nice bike. Maybe a 400cc or something similar.

Or would you recommend I start smaller and work my way up?

I like cars and bikes. Choose MX bikes over riding on the road though- get the thrill at 1/3rd the speed of a road bike, and without the risk that other road users pose to a bike.

i am a fan of anything with an engine. so far I haven't ridden a 'proper' motorbike but I would like to own a track bike at some point. all that power on the road would be too tempting and could end badly. I'm one of those people who have to know how fast something can go and am a big fan of crash structures.

Get your licence ASAP (will help with insurance costs later, but being a bike insurance is only pennies anyway) But start of with a smalish bike & work your way up. My dad's currently got 14 bikes :O the smallest being 500CC but thats the fastest on acceleration. Suzuki RG500, 500CC 4Cylinder 2stroke racing engine :P 0-60 2.1seconds & 0-100 in 5.
