Which would you go for? Audi TT 3.2 quattro or much the same kit in a Golf R32?
I'd prefer the DSG box. Is the TT girly? The VW looks pretty mean in a Q car way.
Thinking of £15-20k range. Thoughts?

Be bolder, be a real PHer...

E39 M5 - 400bhp V8, still very Q car.
Lotus Elise - much more fun than a TT any day.
Nissan 350Z - a bit more comfy like the TT, but more of a sports car.
Porsche 968 CS - if you want a good handling car over a VAG fancy S Line Luxury dash with amazing window switches wink

I know which way I would go.... VW (see profile)

R32 is far more practical, I regularly strap boards on the roof or chuck stuff in the boot etc.

But then again I hear that any Audi is an amazing car if it's in an S line guise.

I think the Audi has a better imagine.

Man, this is why I love PH! I am coming from an XKR and T350c. Really trying to find something that will seat a couple of kids from time to time without me feeling that I've got a lead role in the Waltons!

Are we playing the name a random car game?

The R32 is sportier than the TT. Stiffer suspension and anti-roll bars.

I agree with this post, it doesn't take much imagine to go for the VAGs however, out of the two I'd go for the Golf

If you want something with big engine capacity and Q-car looks, why not think about the Audi S4?

I've driven both and they feel pretty similar.

One makes you feel like a 2nd division footballers wife though.

Thats rights, normal par of the course round here is to suggest a car wasn't mentioned in the OP.

How about a Audi S3.

Audi A3 3.2 is a good shout, i imagine you can pick one up a fair bit cheaper, but wont be as good in the twisties.

Be ready to see a storm of R32's hit the street soon though, cant be long till they are in reach of the chavs budget.

OP here: Sounds like Hobson's choice - neo-Chav or 2nd div footballer's wife!
May just hit the streets with another early 4.2 XKR. Surely no-one has any bad associations with those.....

Er no. Looking at a Cerbera actually. Sensible family motoring personified, as I will explain to Mrs Nailer.... later.

out of the 2 it would easily be the golf even though the audi comes fully equipped with imagine, but if i was spending that sort of money on a car neither of those would be anywhere near my list.

what about a nice evo 9, xjr/xkr, impreza sti/wr1/spec c/d or as previous poster said an m5.

If you want an Audi TT, the only way to go is the 1.8T

By all accounts the V6 version was crammed in so they could make an auto for the American market. It doesn't suit the car at all... in my opinion.
