Aircraft recognition help.....

Any one have any idea what these planes are, my limited knowledge is saying possibly Yak somethings. They were performing an aerobatic display yesterday evening over my house (Shedfield - Hants). No idea what for!!!

they look like yak 52's

Yaks - did they sound kind of rumbly? They have fairly low revving radials.

Yak-50s - the single seat tail-wheel precursor to the nose-wheel two-seat 52.

Thanks guys, looks like them - a Yak 50 and a 52. Yep very rumbly, almost sounded like a very loud Harley going past

Still not sure why they were displaying here, but what a marvelous sight for a Fri evening!!!
