I have missed all the sunday meets for PH, and when I heard there was one at BMW HQ this sunday, I thought I would make the effort to come for once. The only problem was my car hadn't been cleaned for three and a half months!! So I decided to do a hardcore clean on my car.
First of all I was a complete interior detail, including full steam clean:
Then on with the de-greasing, snow foam, 2 bucket wash, clay, re-wash, rinse, dry, ipa wipedown and then masked up.
Then out with d.a. (as the rotary is broke!puh!) for some serious paint tlc, as my car's paint is a mess!

And a little 50/50 shot from another go at the paint today:
So in between work and life I should have it all sparkly by next sunday for the meet at BMW HQ. Will update when I have done more work, and look forward to seeing some nice cars down there!

Good effort, obviously lots of TLC been put into this wash Cheers guys for the positive comments. I do use a rotary but, it decided to die when I started detailing my car!puh lol! So though I have ordered my new makita 9227cb I had no choice but to start my car with the good 'ole' dual action. You can get about 90% of correction with a d.a. of what you could achieve with a rotary. The only difference is time, as what I have only done is the bonnet and of what you can see in the 50/50 shot and thats taken 9 hours correcting!!! With the rotary It would of taken me about 3-4 hours so far.
As far as compounds, polishes and pads, on my car I decided to use the chemical guys paint correction 1 & 2 and the hex-logic pad range. Normally I opt for 3m compound, polishes and pads, but just wanted to try the CG products out!

The inside took 9 hours.The decontamination (big wash stage) took 2 hours.
The paint correction so far has taken 9 hours (due to using a d.a. instead of a rotary)

i do admire the dedication and the 50/50 shot shows why it is worth spending time to care for your paintwork. If you get a good coat of protection over that fresh paint you wont have to spend anywhere near as much time cleaning in the future.

Cheers bud. I don't usaully have time for my own car to this level anyhow! Trust me when I say, most cars straight out the dealership's paint won't be anywhere near as good as this when I'm finished. But yes you should only really do 2 full paint corrections in the cars paint life. Lets face it, the clear coat will run out soon! All the swirls that you can see on the car is 95% inflicted by bad wash routine (previous owner lol) As long as you wash a car in the correct manner you won't have this problem. But like I said I'm proberly going to glasscoat the entire paint and glass on my car. Its the best protection there is to stop the inflicting swirls and rds's.dave
o.O Wow that clean was amazing, I know this may sound like a lazy question but how the hell did you do it? Do you happen to have links to guides/tutorials/products? That finish is truel amazing, it looks like you could easily add a few hundred to a cars value with just a clean like that!
I mainly ask because my C2 (6 years old soon) is starting to look rough and I would love to bring it back to how I bought it.

I hope you don't mind me spamming your thread, but I didn't realise you were a detailer...
Your car obviously has lacquer, but can you use machine polishers on cars with single stage (no lacquer) paint? I ask because I'm having problems with my paint whereby the polishes I use scratch the paint even more!

Without blowing my own trumpet, its what I do for a living. In all this clean will take about 40 hours as my paint was bad, and would cost around £1000-£1200 to do. But yes It most defently help re-sale of a vehicle.

Blow away! I'm less supprised it's so amazing if you did a job like that! I can hoenstly say I an truely envoius. You seem to have a great talent there I wish I could take car of my car like that but if that's a pro job I don't want to see what hash I would make with a DIY attempt. If you're anywhere up north however I may get you to sort out my current project when it's finished.Once again, amazing job.
