Never did find a MkIV Golf with the right spec and price. Instead the Leon suggestions in my prev thread helped my Mrs realise I wasn't just making up the whole VW/ Seat similarity. Looked at a couple of cars and with time against us settled on this 51 plate, 90k mls, full history Leon Cupra with climate and leather.

We've had it two weeks now in which time I've slept in it overnight, it's broken down (coil pack #4) and someone's reversed into it and just driven off. Pretty happy with the car although the ownership experience has not been amazing

Oh by the way, that road is the one leading to my barn isn't it?
Was there last night late. The police came by and were looking for an oddly parked Leon. Seriously. I should have guessed.

Worked solo, was just a spur of the moment thing. Haven't been out for weeks other than this - not good for the health when you can't start until 11pm.

Yes, it's the road you're thinking of. Only one car went down the way whilst I was there but a Discovery and a Fiat Scudo thingy both stopped on the junction and lit me up with LED torches - about 150 lumens with low-grade bulbs Freaks - like, who just has a torch to hand in their car?
