Great clips. Very staged, however they do seem to get on.

Love the line at the end of the second clip, Jenson - 'Do you want to take it out?' Lewis -'Nah let Gary do it'

I hadn't seen that first one before. What a car. Do we recon that room exists at the McFactory, or is it just staged? For some reason, I kind of like the idea there is a room like that in existence.

Cheers

Yup, what you see in that shot is one floor. iirc (as of about 5 years ago) there are 4 floors just as full as that one...plus the cars on display in the Technology Centre

Bloody hell that was a great little vid, I have never seen so many F1 cars in one place from one manufacture before.

Eh, 4 floors? What are you talking about?

That is not in Paragon, aka the Technology Centre, it is somewhere else. Since 1980, a few complete chassis was put to geather with the available parts were kept at the end of each year. The odd car went to the likes of Honda over the years, but non were sold.

There is/was a team that maintained the cars (at great cost), fired them up during the year and kept them in working condiditon, but when money was tight about 4 years ago, they just stopped it looking after them, which was a shame.

The modern cars need computers/software (of the era of the car) to start and run the cars, and the parts of the car have a time/mileage than they can run, such as a suspension component (old cars had metal parts, which you can check relatively easily/cheaply if it is ok, when they went to carbon, when it had hit the say 1000 miles, the part can't be used - every part on the cars has a 'life', which it's mileage is recorded in a database), so the reasons why you don't see the likes of a MP4-17D, or any other recent car running more than 12 months after it has retired.

I know it's not Paragon. A few years ago, Motorsport magazine did a feature on Senna's MP4/4. They showed a photo of the inside of the building that the old McLarens are kept in. As of then, it might have changed by now, the mezzanine floors (for want of a better word) were triple layered above the ground floor. I'll try and dig out the photo.
