Pedestrian run over and killed on motorway

A teenager has been killed after he was run over and then hit by an unmarked police car.
The youngster - believed to be a guest at a nearby wedding - was hit on the M23 near Crawley, West Sussex, just before 2am on Sunday morning.
The 15-year-old was walking at the time and police said he was initially hit by a black Nissan Note.
He was then struck by other vehicles before the police car.
Sussex Police said the pedestrian, who was from Burgess Hill, will not be identified until all relatives have been informed.
The force would not confirm whether the boy had been to a wedding at the nearby Europa Gatwick Hotel.
A spokeswoman would only say he had been to a "family function".
Staff at the hotel refused to give any details when contacted by Sky News Online.
Wedding guest Dave Miller claimed the boy had an argument with his father, then ran off and died while crossing the M23.
He said on his Twitter account: "Nice wedding yesterday but sad ending as one of the teenagers was killed after getting run over on the M23 after the celebrations."
In reply to a friend, he added: "I know - it is on the news. Had a fight with his dad, told him he hated him, ran off and got hit by 4 vehicles."
The motorway was closed for more than eight hours as police investigated the incident between junction 10 and 10a.
Officers said the police watchdog has been informed of the crash as a matter of standard procedure.
A spokesman for the Independent Police Complaints Commission told Sky News: "We will be considering a referral from the force on Monday, but on the information presently available it is not believed any IPCC involvement in an investigation will be required."
Police appealing for information urged witnesses to call 0845 6070 999.

Running over a live Mway gives you a nomination for the Darwin award, no matter the circumstances.
