Riu Palace,Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Was last there in 2006 and that was our 3rd year on the trot and I thought it was going a bit down hill, not a lot, but could have been me getting used to it.

As anyone stayed at the Riu Palace (not the newer Riu Palace further up the beach) recently and able to give their comments.

I went to the Tequila (for the paupers lol) in 2008 and it was brilliant and the Tequila has been refurbished since so maybe the Riu palace has as well. (i did walk through for a nosey when i went and it looked nice enough and certainly more upmarket than the Tequila/Yucatan)

Slighly off topic my sister went to the Grand Bahia Principle and said that was brilliant.

The thing is i am easily pleased, after years of crap and ok'ish hotels in the Costa's the Riu Tequila seemed like paradise.
