New version of speed camera warning system can now manage all your mileage accounts

The speed camera warning system RoadPilot is now available with a unique "Mileage Manager" toolkit that can record details of every journey undertaken.

This information can be downloaded for use with sales reports, accounts and expense forms. Mileage Manager is a tool that’s ideal for fleet managers, commercial salesmen, logistics managers and private motorists using their own car for business purposes.

At the start of every journey, the driver simply uses the touch-screen to select the Mileage Manager programme and then chooses between business, commuting or private. The programme then automatically logs that journey’s details. Drivers can record and analyse their business, commuting and private mileage in great detail and print reports for later use.

The information recorded by Mileage Manager includes:

• Type of journey – business, commuting or private
• Start date and time, end date and time
• Driving time, distance covered and average speed
• Start mileage, end mileage
• Start address, end address, with postcodes

At any time drivers may obtain an instant overview of their journey history by selecting the ‘Totals’ window on the RoadPilot 3.8 inch (9.6cm) LCD display screen. For each of three data zones (mileage, time, average speed) this will display the current totals for business, personal, commuting and uncategorised, plus a grand total.

Mileage Manager users can download all the recorded journey information to a PC for further analysis. In conjunction with Microsoft MapPoint, it will also report journey start and finish points, with postcodes. The printed report can be used to verify accounts and expenses. Mileage Manager is fitted as standard to all new RoadPilot units and is available as a free download to existing RoadPilot users.

Hmm, a handy tool for private users, but it might get a business user in trouble with their company, if they regularly speed (which I guess most do). Companies could introduce all sorts of policies..

I thought the 2004 RoadPilot upgrade was to have included SatNav?

It's only average speed, which is pretty low.
