E90/91 325D Vs 330D

Afternoon all

posting on behalf of a friend so sorry if this is abit vague but he is considering the above 2, with looking at a remap.

i understand that the 325 and 330 petrol lump is the same just with a different ECU, is this the same with the diesel lumps?

does the 325d actually offer better MPG,lower tax etc as in reality on the E46 range this was not the case

what would you consider the best buy with a remap on the cards?

330d as this can be remapped to 335d equivalent and 325d only to 330d. Mpg is near identical in both.

Defiantly pick the 330d over the 325.

The new 330d has been uprated in power and is almost the same on paper as the old 335d. However how the twin turbo's affect on road / in gear performance i the 335d i dont know.

If funds allow, I would choose the 330d over the 325d - that said, I drive a 325d (as that was what was available to me on the particular scheme I am on), and it's very good car.

For what it's worth, the 325d has a smaller turbo than the 330d, hence a remapped 325d is less powerful than a remapped 330d.

thanks guys i have passed this on to my friend, from whati gather the 330d has bigger injectors and a larger turbo so would this make it a safer bet when it comes to a remap in terms of reliabilty and getting the best out of a map? seeing as these parts have been 'upgraded' so to speak over the 325d

also is the 330d any more expensive to run?

They'll cost exactly the same to run as basically the same car. I have a 06 330d m sport for sale if your mates interested?? Shameless plug I know.
