Had a little problem start on the car at the weekend....

Car cruises fine. As soon as I put my foot down on the loud pedal it almost struggles to gain speed, feels like the engine is being pulled back like there is a blockage in the fuel distribution.

Apologies in advance for the poor technical description.

Does it sound like the throttle bodies need replacing again?

Sounds quite severe? Will it idle OK? How long ago did you last balance throttle bodies? How old are the throttle pots? can you get in there with a laptop?

How long since the fuel filter was last changed?

Could also be electrical? Coil Pack, HT leads, spark plugs etc?

Doen't feel like its anything severe feels more like a blockage or something, perhaps new throttle pots are required, don't think its electrical, idles ok, starts fine just having trouble on heavy acceleration. Last time it was all balanced was the last service back in September, throttle pots were replaced around 2 years ago, and if I recallit diddo something similar back then.

Ive booked it in with David Batty for a good talking to. Whenever it starts getting emotional and grumpy with me it goes there, once he's had a word with it im sure it will be right as rain even if I am a bit lighter in the pocket wink

Get your throttle bodies checked for play if / when you replace the pots, they shouldnt really need replacing again after 2 years... how many miles? not many i'd guess?

Play in the spindles can accelerate wear in the tp's...

Going to balance mine over the weekend.

What size are the bodies I/D.

Will this... be OK?

It does from 40-55mm apparently.

Perfect! I use the exact same meter, I've just cut a bit from the rubber cone so it doesn't protrude towards the butterfly.
