Polzeath, Rock, Padstow etc... where to stay? Camping?
Discussion
Heading to Cornwall for a few days next week, only thing really booked in is a drop of the Minack Theatre down by Lands End, then up to Polzeath next day for surf lessons and stay a few nights...
So good people of the P&P, where to stay?
Not sure I want to put myself at the mercy of late rooms and associated prices... so a tent might be the option; anyone know anywhere good?
Was thinking the campsite above Polzeath (Tristram), but the issue is we can't go out for drinks in Padstow without incurring a long taxi ride all the way round the estuary (foot ferry stops early evening).
So is it best to go Padstow side and camp nearby?
The one just outside (off camel trail) appears to enforce a no noise policy past 10 to the point you can hear people snoring, not sure I am keen on that!
Or... is Polzeath or Rock all that's needed for a nice evening meal and some drinks, and pop round to Padstow in the day in the car or on the foot ferry from Rock?

I go camping near Polzeath a lot and but we avoid Polzeath itself because of the 'surfers'. If you want to avoid them as well then try 'Little Dinham Farm' which is the best campsite I've ever been to. Ultra clean toilets (with Classic FM for your 3am turd), pool and loads of space. You never need to book either.
Downsides: not near a pub so you'll need to bring your own beer. Bit of a trek to Polzeath so you need to take the car.
Near Wadebridge and therefore not too bad to get to Padstow/Rock.

Oh, and don't bother trying to park at Polzeath. Further round the bay is 'Daymer Bay' with a cheaper car park (and nice beach), just walk around the cliff tops (nice view, in fact where I proposed) as it's only a mile or so.
It's great funb trying to get up and down that road to Daymer when it's busy too!!Edited by OzzyR1 on Monday 19th July 18:32
By the way, did you know that if you look at an area in Google maps and then put in what you want in the search box it throws up some options for the area?
eg: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&a...

Trewiston Farm farm between Rock and Polzeath is great, clean toilet/showers and it's fairly quiet.
We've used it for years when we've been down that way.
i stayed there twice, not bad rates and if you get to know the route through the farm / golf course down teh valley the walk to polz isnt that long.. We've used it for years when we've been down that way.
the woman who owns it is a right b

on a side note i wouldnt stay in polzeath unless you are used to the noise and parties and general public school kids going mental.
