Hot Stall

I changed the oil pressure relief spring, oil & filter & put a new set of plugs in at the weekend. Went out this morning and seem to have developed a bit of a hot stall.

Pressures are:

80psi cold start-
60 psi under load (Hot) and dropping to
30 psi ish Hot Idle

When I pull up at lights abruptly the pressure & revs drop and engine stalls.

Oil Level Correct
5w/50 Valvoline fully synthetic
Bosch super 4 plugs
Halfords Rover V8 Oil Filter

Seems ok if i feather the throttle and let the revs drop gradually. I'm Stummped! Any Ideas?

Did you drive in a 'spirited' manner prior to the hot stalling? It may be a longshot, but remove your drivers side airbox and check for oily residue on the intakes. If you overfilled the oil, the blowby gases will be oil rich and you may have overloaded the standard breather system thereby oiling up the throttles on the drivers bank. This in turn reduces the (already small) air gaps around the butterflies, which can result in stalling. I had this prior to upgrading my breather system - never happened since!

That said, it could also be a million and one other things............
