I was initially looking for an E91 335D (Touring). I drove a couple and then tried a 330D and didn't notice a great difference in power/torque butthe 330D seemd a much more refined engine (talking 2009 models). I decided on the 330D and as a bonus, averaging 45 mpg in mixed driving.
Well after reading your reply last night I decided to snoop around for some more reviews of the 335d and the 330d, and I am now starting to sway more towards the 330d. Like you said, not a huge difference in power for a more refined engine that gives you better returns. Thanks mate!

the one you're looking at is an Autovogue kitted car, don't know what they're like myself but a guy over on e90post had his AV kitted car resprayed to improve the quality - so i'd be careful....
Note taken! To be honest, I have never seen one of the AutoVogue kits in the flesh. They certainly look good in photos (IMO).
I will check out the E90post.
Cheers.

The 335d is a wonderful car. A 335d with 20 inch wheels and some aftermarket bodykit and quad exhuast system is not.
Buy a lovely standard one, you could get a tidy 2007 for that money.
Indeed, my neighbour has a standard 335d M Sport and it looks superb as it is..........not pretending to be an M3.Buy a lovely standard one, you could get a tidy 2007 for that money.

Last few tanks have been 41-42mpg for me - think the range read 620 from full the other day when i filled up.
As for costs
Well, lets say £200 - £350 on servicing every 17k - 20k miles. Maybe a little more if you need the brakes and discs changing, pos around 50k.
Tyres are probably the most expensive. I have 19's and a runflat is about 280 each. But for not much more you can a pair of falken 452's or some vreds for a bit more. But of course, don't mix run flat and non run flat tyres. So if you decide to change, you need to do all 4 at once. Event tyres are one of the best and do discount a little if you buy all 4.

41-42mpg isn't too bad at all. How much to fill the tank, £60? Last few tanks have been 41-42mpg for me - think the range read 620 from full the other day when i filled up.

Thanks for your reply.
I've done 105,000 miles in a 335d. Its a very functional tool, and good fun on track. Age is catching up with it, but servicing and repair are easy (Done myself) Vacuum hoses are starting to play up , knocking the small turbo out, but easy fix. Exhaust cooler is leaking, but an easy fix. MPG averages 30, but i don't drive with economy in mind. A 330d cannot deliver the bang that the 335d does, but saying that, i haven;t tried the new one yet. Mines debadged, and surprises a lot of supposedly superior cars.
It's posts like that, that make me believe there is something wrong with my car. Both these owners get about 30mpg.
Even on a serious a-road blast mine never dropped below about 34mpg in DS mode using the paddles.
I don't drive around town much so i don't know what it would return on in town. At a guess about 30.
But on my a-road / town commute as soon as i'm up to speed the instant mpg needle sits at bang on 50mpg all day long at a steady speed at 35mph or above, even going up slight hills.
Still makes me think something is wrong, economy seems too good but it certainly feels vv.quick still.

Age is catching up with a 4 year old car?!Mine has a long term average of 27mpg.
Used mainly by the wife around London. Probably not the best car for that kind of mileage but she loves it.
Mine does 38mpg average, for a mixture of around town, A roads and motorways. I filled up the other day after a long motorway trip and it also indicated 620 miles range, although I never really get more than 550 in reality.
I doubt there's anything wrong with yours, you probably just do less around town driving than most people.
Cheers,
Pete

The 231bhp 330d will lose to a 335every time but a 245bhp one little in it.
Commuting I'm getting 40-42 auto would love to see what the new 330d gets. Also when is the 335d getting the great new 330d engine who h is much more economical.
I'd certainly have a 335d
For the other person who said a 3 series fits 4 adults comfortably... Well I disagree a mondeo is vastly bigger huge a three with 6"2' guys up front = little legroom in the back.
I've had 5 adults in mine for 10 miles highly uncomfortable for all. Five series if you want 4 adults or a mondeo or an insignia
