Tan shoes, a nice expensive pair of jeans, tan-ish belt and a stylish t-shirt/check shirt goes pretty well.

Black shoes and light blue jeans will make you look more of a fashion victim than Clarkson, though.

I often see women wear the opposite, black trousers with a jean jacket. At one point almost every other girl was wearing this combo. I dont know if it was a fasion thing or the opposite as in "I can't be bothered to think about what to wear so black trousers & jean jacket"
