What are you on about man? Nobody, and nothing sniffs through it's mouth!

Barring the above (which makes no sense), he sounds fine, except for a possible chest infection, or a bit of cat flu'. Of course, it's possible he's just purring, because it's apparent you have no idea how a cat works wink

Take him to the vet, get some antibiotics, and he'll hopefully be right as rain.

I have a cat that occ 'snores' when properly curled up asleep because he's partially blocking his nose with his paw or tail!

As long as not sneezing, no nasal discharge, that he is eating well, bright lively etc he should be fine until the check up. There are some possibilities but difficult to know without an examination.

It is not uncommon for rehomed cats to be a bit stressed in first few days and start sneezing etc. If any symptoms develop get him into vets sooner

Sorry - didn't make myself clear - I meant smells. You have obviously not heard of Flehmen - read and learn

Cats don't always use their mouth, it is perfectly normal for them to sniff the air in the way dogs do, they usually only open their mouth if they then detect something. In fact if he couldn't sniff through his nose I'd be more concerned!

May have cat flu or had it as a kitten (old owners not vaccinating is sadly not uncommon) or it could even have cat AIDS..

Could be worth a quick consult with a vet to MOT the moggy just to be sure all is well with heart and lungs etc...
