The car is then moved into the 'low-bake oven to be prepared for spraying.

Bodywork that is not going to be painted is 'masked' off, and a wash-down with a solution called "Panel Wipe" is carried out. This solution removes from the area to be painted, any unwanted residues such as grease and silicons (often found in car polish).
Primer is sprayed on to the 'repaired' area to act as a bonding coat between the bodywork and the paintwork. Once dry, the primer is rubbed down with a very fine abrasive wet and dry sand paper, ready for final spraying.

The car is sprayed in the 'oven' at a temperature around 25-27 degrees Celsuis, with an added extraction system, which is used to remove spray dust, (small airborne spray paint particles). The first stage is to apply the 'Base paint', which is applied layer by layer to ensure even and complete colour coverage.

The lacquer is then applied to give the bodywork its shiny protective coat.

The temperature is then taken upto about 50 degrees Celsius to aid the drying process, before being turned off to allow the paint to 'cure'.
