How much of a ball-ache to fit in a defender?

As it is derived from the V8 that came in them anyway it shouldnt be a huge issue:

Really depends on what is in the Defender now issues with gearbox etc..

Easy as far as engine swaps go. But what are your plans? Are you keeping the factory EFI, or aftermaket like Megaquirt or convert to carbs?

Gearbox may will also dictate some of what needs to be done too.

Not sure to be honest 300.

As per my other landie thread at the moment, I'm on the look out for a v8 donor vehicle and there's a p38 for sale locally, mot failure but good engine and auto box.

I think carbs would be easiest. And I'll try to find an r380 box.

To be honest, a good-nick 3.5 would be just fine, I'm not looking for huge hp, just enough torque for pulling full loads up hills with ease and I'm a sucker for a Land Rover with v8 woofle...

Let us know how you get on. The Defender offers plenty of space for a variety of engines. Use our 'ASK DICK' link for any advice.

what did it fail the mot on? many of the 4.6's are shagged, if it was any good - it would either be on the road or long gone.
