Oakley Jawbone

Seeing as how the guys in the TdF are swanking around wearing Oakley Jawbones I thought I would get myself a set, I'm sure they will add at least several MPH to my avg speed

Any of you out wearing them? How do you find them? Worth the outlay? Internet price looks to be £150 with retail @ £190.

I've had mine for about 8 months now and they're fantastic. Mine are prescription spec, and i've got two sets on lenses.

Not cheap, but worth evert penny in my view.

Didn't make me any faster though :¬(

Review in Cycling Plus said they limit peripheral vision due to chunky frames. Not sure by how much, and I guess it's down to each rider as to whether it's a problem.

The best cycling glasses I've ever owned, very easy to change the lenses, they look good, are very robust.
Can't say I've noticed reduced peripheral vision.
I find the vented clear lenses are great in the rain.
Some of the frame colour combinations do look a bit foolish.

Very true.

I fancy either the matte black or the mostly black with a splash of red, have to co-ordinat with the bike!

No problems with peripheral vision here either.

I went for black frames with lairy coloured lenses. This works best IMHO.

Interesting, I was thinking of getting a pair of these too. I quite like the yellow and black Livestrong ones. Hope these aren't considered too naff!

Not a great fan of Lance so i wouldn't go for these personally, but hey it's all about personal choice.

Yep black with polarised fire iridium lenses here. Great glasses. Have picked up a few scratches though so be careful kids..

Tried them on in the shop today and impressively comfortable, even although they look rather chunky they certainly don't feel it on.

Unfortunately to get the red frame I need to get the photochramatic lenses which will set me back an extra £30

I'm using the pair this fine site suggested a few months back which I got from the Aldi cycle gear sale for around £3.99. Not Oakleys but do a very good job.

Aside from RXSport. Any other UK reputable discount sources for Oakley? I've found a few, but not sure about how Kosher they are.

I've really struggled with eyewear on the bike, and can't seem to find anything to stop my eyes from streaming. Couldn't, that is, until I tried some M Frames. Couldn't initially quite stomach spending so much on glasses, but I did an hour on the bike on them and came back without the lenses smeared with my own tears from windstream. Seriously impressed with them...

I had some Jawbones custom made in the States via a powerseller on Ebay. Granted they took a little longer than walking into your local Oakley dealer, but I got exactly what I wanted and they were a little cheaper than UK high street prices too including delivery. Win win if you'e willing to wait 6 weeks or so

Another vote for M-frames here. I've got the "sweep" version which protects the eye from the side too. Lightweight, very comfortable, very secure. One of my best bike purchases ever.

I thought since I started this topic a year ago it would be fair if I updated it

I bought myself a custom pair whilst in Vegas in my ideal colour combo and I'm delighted so far with them.

Very comfortable to wear, they somehow don't look too ridiculous on and optical quality is as good as one would expect from Oakley.
